Manga Jiman Competition 2010

The Embassy of Japan in London is once again launching the major manga-writing competition, MANGA JIMAN 2010, with fantastic prizes and open to anyone fourteen* years of age or over. SelfMadeHero are one of the sponsors. We wholeheartedly recommend it to any aspiring and established artists in the UK – it is a great way to get spotted for illustration work and get picked up by publishers.

Runners-up will receive a selection of manga publications from UK manga publishers amongst others prizes (including a full set of SelfMadeHero's Manga Shakespeare). The winners’ works will be displayed in a special MANGA JIMAN EXHIBITION at the Embassy of Japan. All creations should be original and between six to eight A4-sized pages in length and although entrants are free to choose their own theme, restrictions do apply, and importantly the manga should in some way make reference to nami or ‘wave’.

The closing date for the submission of entries is Monday, 1 November 2010. The full details are here. Please contact the Embassy with any queries about the competition.
* The competition is open to all legal residents of the United Kingdom who are, or will be, over the age of fourteen (14) by 1 January 2011.
**Terms and conditions apply.
