Eisner and Harvey nominations for Kleist
It was announced yesterday that Reinhard Kleist, the creator behind SelfMadeHero's Johnny Cash: I see a darkness, has been nominated for a Harvey Award!
Named in honour of the late Harvey Kurtzman, one of the industry's most innovative talents, the Awards 'recognise outstanding work in comics and sequential art'. They'll will be announced next month at the Baltimore Comic-Con. Go Kleist!
You can vote for the Harvey Awards here. As they used to say in Northern Irish elections – "vote early, vote often!" But seriously – just vote for Reinhard.
Reinhard was nominated in the category of 'BEST NEW TALENT'! We certainly agree with the nomination and wish Reinhard the very best of luck, although we should say that competition is stiff in this hotly contested category!
In April we were also delighted to hear that Reinhard has been nominated for a prestigious Eisner Award in the category of 'Best Writer/Artist–Nonfiction' for Johnny Cash: I See A Darkness. In this category Reinhard is up against Willy Linthout, Joe Sacco, David Small and Carol Tyler – so fingers crossed as all of the nominated graphic novelists would make worthy winners.
The Eisners are considered the comics industry's "Oscars". They'll be presented during San Diego Comic-Con in just ten days time. It is fair to say that we are excited!
