SelfMadeHero's BIG Moomins competition

SelfMadeHero are delighted to announce our BIG Moomins competition with our friends at Drawn & Quarterly. We're celebrating three things this month – the publication of the Moomins Cookbook by Tove Jansson and Sami Malila (SelfMadeHero), the publication of Moomin: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip volume 5 by Tove Jansson (Drawn & Quarterly) and Moomin's 65th birthday!

What are the prizes? 

 What you could win! (marble worktop not included)

We have two star prizes...

– A Moomin picnic in Regent's Park. We're providing everything you need for a picnic Moomin-style. This means Scandinavian food, drinks, Moomin picnic plates, cups and napkins, a Moomins Cookbook and anything else with a Moomin on it that we can find between now and the closing date. Watch Twitter for prize updates!
 
– A complete set of Tove Jansson's Comic Strips, ie Moomin: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip vols 1–5 thanks to our friends at Drawn & Quarterly.

...and five "small, but perfectly formed" prizes:

– A Moomins Cookbook (SelfMadeHero) and a copy of Moomin: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip volume 5 (Drawn and Quarterly) tied together with a piece of ribbon(!)

How do I enter?

There are three ways to win in this competition. To win either of the "Star prizes" you'll need to follow @selfmadehero and @DandQ on Twitter.

Star prize 1 – For your chance to win a Moomin picnic get on Twitter and tell us @selfmadehero who – living or deceased – you would share your perfect Moomin picnic with. The most inventive answer will win.

Star prize 2 – For your chance to win a complete set of Drawn & Quarterly's Collected Moomin, simply tweet “Happy 65th birthday #Moomin! Retweet and follow @selfmadehero and @DandQ to enter http://tinyurl.com/MoominComp”

Prize 3 – 2010 is the year of Moomin's 65th birthday. So, for your chance to win one of our five "small, but perfectly formed" prizes, you'll need to bake Moomin a birthday cake and post a photo of it on the wall of SelfMadeHero's Facebook Page.

When do the competitions close?

– The competition for the two star prizes will close on Wednesday 21st July 2010 at 10am.

– The Moomin cake baking competition will close on Friday 30th July 2010 at 10am or sooner if we receive photos of five incredible cakes.

Terms and conditions

1. "SelfMadeHero", "Metro Media Ltd" is "the Organiser" of this contest, please do not contact Drawn & Quarterly
2. No employees or their family members of Metro Media Ltd or Drawn & Quarterly can win the competition 
3. SelfMadeHero will provide the Moomin picnic for the winner and upto five guests
4. Winners of the Moomin picnic must be able to travel to London to collect their picnic basket before the end of August (we can't really post it)
5. SelfMadeHero reserves the right to alter the prizes without notice
6. The winner of "Star Prize 2" will be selected by random.org
7. No correspondence will be entered to, the judges' decisions are final
8. The competition is open to anyone currently living in the United Kingdom

What if I don't want to enter the competition but would still like a book?

You can buy a copy of the Moomins Cookbook online for only £8.43 via our shop as well as at all branches of Waterstones and Foyles. If you run an independent bookshop or comics store that stock the cookbook, make yourself known in the comments of this post and we'll tweet out your location!
