A new Moomin exhibition

(c) Tampere Museum, Finland

Bury Art Gallery, near Manchester, have bagged themselves an exhibition of Tove Jansson's original artwork to celebrate 65 years of the Moomins – and they are the only venue in the UK to host it! The Finnish ambassador, Pekka Huhtaniemi, and Sophia Jansson, niece of Tove Jansson, open the exhibition on 23rd October.

Bury Art Gallery say "Tove Jansson's original drawings will be shown alongside a collection of rare examples of her illustrations published in Finnish daily newspapers" and that the gallery will be decorated to create an "enchanted space" that will "capture the magic of Moominvalley, with dimly lit pools of dappled light, the Moomin boat and islands of stepping stones." It sounds good, eh?

Admission to the exhibition is free and it is open Tuesday to Friday, 10am–5pm, and Saturday 10am–4.30pm.

The exhibition runs until January 15th 2022 and there will be several Moomin-themed events taking place in Bury Art Gallery during its run:
